Foxton Bible Camp was established in 1961
primarily to facilitate an annual Family Camp. Since then the
camp has been continually modernised and expanded. It now has
facilities safe for families and youth and is available for hire.
Bible Camp is a self-catering camp. Each group hiring the camp
is responsible for their own food supply and catering and adherence
to any Food Safety regulations.
We firmly believe in the value
of a camping programme for spiritual encouragement and the
strengthening of ties of fellowship among the people of God.
emphasis remains our priority, but community groups are also
able to hire the facilities.
The grounds have been developed to enable camps to be contained
on-site if they wish. The local area is also ideal for camps. The
ocean beach is less than a half hour walk (3 km) from Camp and
estuary only minutes away. The Manawatu River Estuary draws visitors
keen to see the 2000 birds and up to 58 species known to flock
over the northern winter and is a stopover
for many rare and migratory birds.
Foxton township is being developed as an historical town and offers
horse-drawn tram rides, Dutch windmill, boutique shops, flax museum,
Audiovisual Museum and the new Dutch-Maori museum (Te Awahou
Nieuwe Stroom). There is also a public covered swimming pool.
Beach School is the site of an astronomical observatory available
through the local Astronomy Club.
